Synopsis

The focus of this topical meeting is to explore new trends and applications in the field of tapered optical fibers which are fibers with diameters close or smaller than the optical wavelength.  These 1D micro/nanoscale waveguides present interesting properties as light confinement, strong evanescent field, design of dispersion, enhanced surface effects.
New developments on tapered optical fibers from fundamental physics to application devices will be welcome. Potential topics include, but are not limited to, the design, simulation, and fabrication of tapered optical fibers. Nonlinear optical effects and laser applications in tapered optical fibers using either silica or other materials such as tellurite or chalcogenide, are also welcome. Tapered fibers embedded in different materials (polymers, metals …) for the realization of complex systems (plasmonic fiber, optomechanics at the nanoscale, etc.)  will also be considered.
